It's hard to believe that my trip to Japan is less than a month away! I am so grateful for the Brookline Education Foundation (BEF) and the Sending Educators to Japan (SET-J) families for their support and assistance in helping me make this trip.
The BEF is a non-profit organization that raises funds to support innovative teaching and excellence at Brookline schools. The SET-J program is a Lawrence school PTO program that raises funds and plans a trip each year for a teacher to visit Japan. The purpose is for teachers to observe the Japanese educational system and experience Japanese culture first-hand. When the teachers return, they share their experiences with colleagues and the Lawrence community, so that our school community's understanding of Japanese culture can continue to grow. I have the privilege of joining Ms. Keryn Gannon, a fellow second grade teacher, who was the SET-J grant recipient this year.
